Jiggle Jiggle to Tidelands Park like a Mango? Ok it's not the best title

Ahhh, Sunday afternoon and we finally get a long overdue hang out day with our some of our favorite chosen family, annsumi, tanda08, and the little Landocious. First stop was to grub down at a little spot in Point Loma called.......

The Wife works relatively close to here, so we have talked about eating here before. It's like those infamous Korean food trucks where they mix Mexican style with Korean ingredients. I was honestly expecting some young Korean kids running a hip little joint serving tacos and burritos along side classic bibimbop and bulgogi, but it looks more like the quintessential Convoy restaurant.

Simple menu

Medium size dining room, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in boiling heat.

Side dishes. Their Kim Chee is really good.

Korean fries- fries with bbq beef, cheese, kimchee, spicy mayo & korean aioli. I suggest asking for light mayo. I did after seeing some Yelp photos, and it turns out it was the right choice. There is still plenty left on there to get the flavor profile. The fries were nicely cooked and pretty thick. All the elements worked rather well together. The spicy crunch of the kim chee with the grilled tender meat then the creamy garlicky mayo comes in and mixes with the fluffy insides of the fries and its pretty sweet.

The Wife chose the original bibimbop. It's a rice bowl with veggies and meat topped with a fried egg. It's a delicious fresh bowl of food and the Wife really enjoyed it.

I chose the trio of tacos. They trio is bbq short rib, bbq chicken & spicy bbq pork. My favorite was the BBQ spicy pork. All the tacos come with the same toppings of korean slaw, salsa fresca, spicy mayo & korean aioli and are served on two corn tortillas each. They are little street taco size, but eating three is plenty satisfying.

After lunch we headed on over to Tidelands Park just under the bridge on Coronado.

The face doesn't show it, but she was saying "wheeeee" at one point.

After the heat boiled us silly, we had the great idea of hitting up a Popsicle place. We just had to find one first. I Yelped "palateria" and only two popped up, one had no reviews, no stars, no pictures, no info, and just a name. The other had four reviews and five stars, so we went with the flow and headed down to .........

We entered the little strip mall store front with hot children and adults begging for a frosty treat to sooth our fiery souls. As our eyes adjusted to the light , we were greeted by the long bank of freezers holding the sweet and chilly Hispanic delights. Inside the white freezers were two long rows of seemingly endless creamy concoctions, and at the very end waiting for our discovery, was the little section of paletas.

Ice cave of paletas

Colorful Mexican style furniture. It's like giant sized too which is awesome for me

The Kid got creamy strawberry which she devoured. It's was very good. Just the right amount of cream to fresh fruit.

Mmmmmm

The Wife chose the Mango and Lucas (salt and chile). She liked the first taste saying it awoke her taste buds and then after that it became a salty mess. When I took a taste it was almost like tasting dry salted cuttlefish. Now, I like mango and Lucas , but in my opinion it was just too much. The Lucas was actually mixed into the mango mix. I feel it would be better if it was just on the outside. The fresh mango taste was just obliterated by the saltiness and was not refreshing at all.

My choice was the refreshing, sweet, tart, and overall most delicious thing ever, the Jamaica (not like "yeah, mon we be jammin', but like ham-ike-a). If you have ever been to a taco shop and seen the trio of mexican juices, the purple-ish one is Jamaica. This was no joke the best Popsicle I have ever had. It was the perfect sweetness and wasn't overly water when eating it. It was super refreshing and put a cease and desist order on the lava flowing through my veins.

Lando Calrissian got the mango ice cream and seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.

Tanda08 got the Chamango which is mango, chamoy, and chile. It looks really good and he seemed to like it.

Assurance that it's made Mango.
