Bring on the Pork

Last Airplane trip before prego is grounded.  We went up to SF to see the parents, and aunty and uncle.  Aaron also wanted to eat various pig parts at one of his favorite chef's two establishments.

First stop: tasty salted pig parts

Chris Cosentino's shop: Boccalone Salumeria

Each cup of coffee is hand poured into individual coffee filters

My latte's finally ready after a 30 minute wait

Porchetta sandwich.

Rotisserie

Porchetta. Pork loin wrapped in pork belly with herbs and garlic

Everyone absolutely loved this sandwich in all its porky goodness.
It was a topic of conversation all day.
Nobody could get over how absolutely wonderful it was!
..I thought it was ok

Bread is local, porchetta is topped with caramelized onions and a peppery parsley-type green

This pomegranate soda tasted like wine

Aaron worked up the nerve this time to take a picture with Chef Cosentino when we bumped into him at the farmer's market this time around (he shops here for his restaurant Incanto, where we went later in the day)

Pork: the noun, not the verb.

Smoked salmon

Got a loaf to eat with the Nduja (spicy spreadable salami) and serano goat cheese Aaron bought earlier in the day.  Made for yummy breakfast the next morning!

Cara-cara oranges.  Ruby red grapefruit and navyl orange hybrid.  The best.

The only chocolate made in SF

They take chocolate seriously.

Giant Robot store off of Haight St.

Adorable bossy turtle

Aaron's new buddy Chris's restaurant

Various breads and an olive tapenade

Spaghetti al nero: squid ink pasta with calamari and chili
(tied for my favorite of the night)

Warm salad with pork belly and capers

Polenta made from their house foccacia bread topped with escargots and mushrooms
(tied for my favorite of the night)

Handkerchief pasta and pork ragu

Calf brain and bone marrow risotto (Aaron's choice)

Halibut with clams and peas (pops' choice)

Gelato Classico: best gelato ever.
I got peanut butter cup and strawberry.
I chose pistachio and dark chocolate peanut butter for Aaron while he kept the car running (SF parking is horrible).  Gooey and creamy perfection.

Blueberry and strawberry lemonades at Presidio Social Club: delish.
